Katahdin Studio Furniture's senior cabinetmaker, James Roy, has been mulling over ideas for this Laptop WorkCenter for more than a year. When he began to build the prototype this past fall, his ideas came to fruition. Bolstered by more than 30 years of experience, James literally made thousands of creative decisions that led up to a high performance office cabinet unlike anything else on the market. It is only fitting that this piece will become the cornerstone of Katahdin's Harbinger Home Office Collection. Katahdin’s Laptop Standing WorkCenter is quite succinctly… a virtual office within one masterwork piece of fine cabinetry. First of all, it is ergonomically designed to “fit” a wide variety of users. The height of the uppermost surface adjusts over a range of 6 inches. The Laptop pallet’s angle is adjustable with a number of pre-set pitches. A mouse “den” is provided directly below the laptop pallet that allows for manipulating the mouse comfortably from a standing position. The floor of the mouse den may be pulled forward outside of the cabinet column for better visibility, or, if you prefer, for working from a seated position. The cabinet features a file drawer at the bottom (with CD storage sleeves), 2 accessory drawers, and a pencil/supply drawer right underneath the mouse den. The Laptop Stand-Up WorkCenter is fully customizable and priced accordingly. Printer compartments and bookshelves are among the custom features that can be easily accommodated within this cabinet. Furthermore, we have provided the electronic connections for putting your Laptop to work, including room for cell phone and camera battery chargers. And… no more messy tangled cords visible on the floor, all computer cordage is concealed within a chase that travels up the backside of the cabinet. If your home or office has a wireless modem, the only cord coming from behind this workcenter will be for the electricity. That’s right… one cord, not 4 to 6.
